Johnny McMahon is a Limerick-based visual artist working across painting, printmaking, moving image and writing. McMahon’s practice is largely informed by the shifting terrain of digital culture, using appropriated images and textual elements sourced from online captions or personal reflections on the complexities of creating in the digital age. Johnny McMahon’s work interrogates the nature of communication, authorship, and authenticity in a world defined by virtuality and disconnection. Johnny is a recent graduate of the Limerick School of Art and Design where he received a BA in Fine Art Painting in 2022. McMahon has also been a member of Galway-based Studio 8 Collective, and is funded by the Basic Income for the Arts scheme, exhibiting in various group shows across Galway and Limerick City.
