Nathan G. Lowry - Process In Progress

Nathan Lowry is an Irish artist based in Co. Dublin, Ireland.
Nathan specialises in acrylic paints and uses a contemporary approach with shapes and colour to achieve his compositions. His work gives focus to figures in everyday life and insights to intimacy. The paintings evoke a certain surreal atmosphere which urges the viewer to interpret meaning within the artwork. In particular his focus has been on the lack of representation of varying aspects of life within galleries and media,
especially considering romantic art or scenes with subliminal references to affection. He was seeing nearly exclusively heterosexual based love scenes. It is a goal of his to subvert negative associations with people of varying backgrounds based solely on societal prejudice. His work has been shown in prominent galleries such as the Royal Hibernian Academy, Outset Gallery and he has also been featured in the Irish Independent art column and heat one of the popular portraiture competition, 'Portrait Artist of
the Year' 2022.

This is an artbook of his favourite paintings that he has completed over the years. It is in a square 210mm format. There are 52 pages of content not including the covers and inner covers. He details some of my processes and give examples of his works. He includes some influences that have inspired my artistic journey as well, these mainly consist of ancient portraiture.

Each copy is hand signed by himself. It was made in Dublin by him and printed by digitalprinting.ie in Ireland.
