Kanned Kraken, 2025, digital, 21x29.7

I am an Irish printmaker, illustrator and artist. I work predominantly in printmaking with a background in Lino carving. The process of carving white space to reveal an image has become so intuitive that it’s the method I use whether working digitally for screen-print or by hand. My great passions have always been nature and narratives. The natural world is a constantly evolving story with creatures whose interconnectedness is unfathomable.

My most recent collection of work has been centred around sea life and maritime mythology and story telling. A series prints celebrating the visuals of sea life with a playful and somewhat harsh realism surrounding how our interactions with actual sea life could play out if myths were real. People can be fascinated by the natural world while also consuming it. Elephants and tigers are revered as mystical but are consumed because of this, not despite it. If Krakens were real I can only assume they’d end up in a can reading “Sustainably Summoned”.
